From stockpiling his lunch money to buy records
as an 11 year old to spinning wheels at some of
the world's best parties, Tightpants has been
plotting his own musical road map since he was
a kid - and it's dotted with all the pit stops
of a true music lover.
Getting his start jamming alongside major-league
singer/songwriter Sia in her first band, Crisp,
Tyson's talent as a drummer took him from the
acid jazz circuit to live hip hop performance.
Co-founding the multi award-winning Australian
hip hop group the Fuglemenin the 1990s, Tyson
toured alongside groups such as the Run DMC, Jurassic
5 and Latyryx to name a few.
Spinning records was no bedroom sidegig for Tyson
as he travelled Australia to support heavyweights
like RJD2, Jurassic 5, Grandmaster Flash, Cash
Money, and Ugly Duckling.
Residencies at respected Australian venues such
as the Beach Road (Sydney), The Croft Institute
(Melbourne), La La Land (Byron Bay) and Minke
Bar (Adelaide) only encouraged Tyson's fanatical
vinyl habit, which had quickly branched out from
soul and hip hop to disco and house.
Kickstarting his record label Voyeurhythm from
London in 2008, both debut 12" releases were
an in-store hit and run, selling out within 24
hours of hitting the shelves.
Influences - From Tom waits to Latyryx,
Moodyman to Dilla.
